RIGA
art + design + architecture + AI
Riga hosted the unLoc team for the latest edition of the Creative Research Lab, bringing together students and emerging professionals in art, architecture, and design to explore the city and develop redesign concepts for selected buildings.
The program began with an intensive field trip, during which participants examined spaces with significant research potential, including the Latvian Academy of Sciences, the former Polytechnic, and the former Central Committee building. Each location served as a starting point for reflecting on postwar architecture and its influence on urban life.
As part of the creative and research activities, participants experimented with generative AI, worked on speculative design projects, and critically analyzed the functions and social role of the spaces. The sessions were conducted in collaboration with Dina Suhanova and Liene Jakobsone at the Art Academy of Latvia (Institute of Contemporary Art, Design, and Architecture).
