Riga Case Study Visit
Case Study Visit (WP4)
Riga | LATVIA
Our final study visit within WP4 took place in Riga, Latvia. This time, our hosts were lecturers from the Academy of Arts in Latvia, whose premises we also had the opportunity to visit.
The city charmed us with its intimate atmosphere and intriguing architecture. Our itinerary included a visit to the famous Latvian Academy of Sciences, where we enjoyed a breathtaking view of the city from the observation deck. Particularly interesting from the project’s perspective was the Red Riflemen Square, along with the adjacent Occupation Museum/House of Future (formerly the Latvian Red Riflemen Museum), and the Republican Higher Party School, which later became the Riga Polytechnic School and, most recently, the main building of Riga Technical University. Finally, we had the chance to see the former Communist Party Central Committee Building of the Latvian SSR. Liene Jakobsone and Dina Suhanova from the Latvian project team guided us during this visit.
